Charlie Weinrich, one of the top special teams performers in the country, is now on the recruiting radar for a Big Ten program.
Weinrich, who attends Overland Park (Kan.) Blue Valley, already had a preferred walk-on offer from the Kansas Jayhawks. But on Thursday, Weinrich said he had landed a preferred walk-on offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Charlie Weinrich has a family connection with Nebraska. His sister is a student at Nebraska. The Huskers extended the preferred walk-on offer Wednesday when he was on an unofficial visit to Lincoln.
Weinrich is considered one of the top five kickers in the nation, according to Kohl’s kicking camp. He’s also a talented punter.
During his senior season, Charlie Weinrich set a Kansas high school record with a 57-yard field goal.
