Normally, injury reports come down the pipe bearing bad news. But this week, not so much, as Nebraska football released a 100% clean injury report on Saturday ahead of the Northwestern game.

The Cornhuskers had zero players listed as “Out” or “Questionable” for the game and are set to kickoff vs. the Wildcats as a fully healthy football team — barring anything that could pop up in pregame warmups. Meanwhile, Northwestern does have a couple of key players listed as out: starting quarterback Ben Bryant and tight end Jack Fitzgerald.

Bryant was the team’s starter in the first five games of the year before going down and is a sixth-year senior after who transferred to Northwestern after two separate stops at Cincinnati and one in between at Eastern Michigan. On the other hand, Fitzgerald isn’t much of a loss since he hasn’t caught a pass all year.

Bryant won the Northwestern starting quarterback gig ahead of the season opener versus Rutgers. So far this year, he has 926 yards, six touchdowns, three interceptions and a 59% completion percentage. Last season, Bryant threw for 2,731 yards, 21 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 61.2% completion percentage.

Bryant transferred for a second time this offseason when he came to Northwestern this offseason. He started his career at Cincinnati in 2018, but after three seasons without starting, he left for Eastern Michigan in 2021.

That season, Bryant threw for 3,123 yards, 14 touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 68.4% completion percentage. He transferred back to Cincinnati following the departure of Desmond Ridder to the NFL.

Brendan Sullivan to start for Northwestern

The Wildcats take on Nebraska in Lincoln Saturday, but won’t have their starting quarterback. Brendan Sullivan is reportedly set to start once again.

In the win over Howard, Sullivan finished 13-of-18 passing for 131 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

So far this season, Sullivan is 23-of-34 passing for 192 yards, three touchdowns and one interceptions. Over the course of his career Sullivan has 781 yards, seven touchdowns, four interceptions and a 72.3% completion percentage.

As a member of the Class of 2021, Sullivan was a three-star recruit out of Davison (Mich.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 18 overall prospect in the state, the No. 51 quarterback in the class and the No. 711 overall prospect in the class.
