Nebraska QB Jeff Sims officially enters NCAA transfer portal
Nebraska quarterback Jeff Sims officially entered the NCAA transfer portal after just one year with the program, On3 has learned. Sims came to Lincoln after three years at Georgia Tech but will look elsewhere for the 2024 season.
Sims was inserted as the starter to begin the year by first-year head coach Matt Rhule. However, turnovers plagued his time under center.
In five games this season, Sims finished with 282 yards, one touchdown, six interceptions, a 59.6% completion percentage, 189 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
In four years with Georgia Tech and Nebraska, Sims has 4,746 yards, 31 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, a 57.6% completion percentage, 1,341 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns.
As a member of the Class of 2020, Sims was a four-star recruit out of Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 41 overall prospect in the state, the No. 18 quarterback in the class and the No. 261 overall prospect in the class.
