Keisei Tominaga pours in career-high 30 points to propel Nebraska to 72-63 victory over PSU
Nebraska sharpshooter Keisei Tominaga is known as the Japanese version of Steph Curry. He showed exactly why on Sunday. Tominaga erupted for a career-high 30 points against Penn State on Sunday afternoon to propel the Cornhuskers to a 72-63 win. Not only did he pour in 30 points, but he did it while battling through cramps, according to his head coach Fred Hoiberg. Check out the clip below, where he drilled his final three-pointer of the game to finish with a career-high.
Keisei Tominaga delivered a spectacular performance
Tominaga drilled 50 percent of his shots from beyond-the-arc, connecting on 5 of his 10 attempts. He also connected on 12 of his 18 shots from the field. Following the game, the Japanese sharpshooter spoke with Jess Settles of the Big Ten Network about his spectacular performance.
“It feels very good. My teammates trusted me all day. They gave me the ball every single time, you know. They were looking for me every single time, so that’s why I got [so many] points,” Tominaga said.
He talked about how he was able to get to the rim and get plenty of two-point buckets, as well. “Every day I practice. How I score, it’s [not just a three-point shot.] So that’s why I try to think every day. How [to score points],” Tominaga said.

He also talked about how the Cornhuskers had some freshman step up for them, despite all of the injuries they had to deal with. “Yeah, [there were some big shots.] Sam Hoiberg and then [Jamarques Lawrence] made big free throw shots. And then Jamarques hit the big three-ball. Yeah, it was big,” the Nebraska sharpshooter said.
This season, he’s been averaging 38% from three-point range and 93.1% from the free throw line. The win was the 11th of the season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and it’s a performance by Tominaga that will undoubtedly go down in Cornhusker basketball lore.
Before Nebraska, Tominaga spent two seasons at Ranger (Texas) College, helping the program to a 22-4 overall record and a NJCAA National Tournament semifinals appearance in 2021. He also helped guide them to 50 wins in two seasons at the school.
