Matt Rhule announces redshirt approach for Turner Corcoran, Nebraska's roster
With four games to go in the season, Matt Rhule answered a question about the redshirt statuses for Nebraska.
During his press conference on Thursday, Rhule said that the Cornhuskers’ have no plans of using any of their players in which it would cost them their redshirts.
“No, I wouldn’t,” said Rhule. “Yeah, I wouldn’t burn anyone’s redshirt at this point.”
However, one that was mentioned specifically was Turner Corcoran, the fifth-year offensive lineman who has been out for a month now dealing with an injury. He appeared in the first four but hasn’t played since with only a third of the season left. Still, while he could redshirt and return for a sixth year, Rhule would leave that for him to decide about once he’s healthy enough to consider it.
“That’s probably a different situation. That’s more of a personal decision on his end, you know,” said Rhule. “He’s not back yet. If he gets back and could play, we’d have him ready to play. If he wants to redshirt and come back next year then, you know, we would do that for him. But that’s really, you know, a personal decision for him.”

“I wouldn’t ask him to even think about that until he’s actually healthy. You know, he hasn’t even taken a rep in a practice yet so I think he’s still, you know, a ways away,” Rhule added. “If Turner comes back? You know, it depends on the timing. If he does redshirt, he can still play in the bowl game. It would be really big for him.”
Nebraska will continue to consider their options for their entire roster over the final month, including what’ll look to be their first postseason berth in eight years with them at five wins. Still, this is Rhule’s approach on it for now as the ‘Huskers head into November.
