Rahmir Johnson, Tommi Hill injury updates: Matt Rhule gives status of two Cornhuskers players
Nebraska will look to bounce back from two straight losses this weekend as they host Big Ten newcomer UCLA in Lincoln. And there’s no question that getting some of their key players fully healthy and back on the field will certainly help in that effort.
Running back Rahmir Johnson and cornerback Tommi Hill both missed the Cornhuskers’ last game against Ohio State, a narrow loss they certainly could have had an impact in. With Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule opening up about the availability of both players this week during his Monday press conference.
“I don’t know Tommi, Rahmir’s back. He’ll practice tomorrow,” Rhule said.
Johnson entered concussion protocol last week, and his return to the lineup gives the Cornhuskers a boost in their rushing attack. A veteran player in the midst of his sixth season with the program that’s played in eight games this season with starts in two as the team’s third-leading rusher. Rushing for 153 yards on 38 carries this season and just 108 yards away from the 1,000-yard mark in his career with Nebraska.
Additionally, Johnson has been a major threat in the passing game with 19 receptions this season for 165 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Hill’s status, on the other hand, seems a little bit more up in the air. Missing two games with a plantar fascia injury to his foot before returning to the lineup against Indiana. Which was followed by him being ruled out for a third time this season on Saturday against the Buckeyes.
Hill is one of the top cornerbacks in the country with 16 tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown this season. But even if he misses another game this weekend, USC transfer Ceyair Wright has been rock solid as his replacement. Making three starts in his absence with 25 tackles, a tackle for loss, sack, an interception, and a forced fumbled apiece along with five pass breakups (ties the team high).
Nebraska and UCLA square off at 3:30 p.m. ET this Saturday in a matchup airing on Big Ten Network and streaming on Fubo.
