Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule knows football and he knows good food when he sees it. The Huskers’ leader named the best places to eat in Lincoln to the College GameDay crew.

So if the pregame show returns to the midwest for Big Red, then the hosts might be sampling some good stuff, based on Rhule’s recommendations. Or, if you’re visiting Lincoln, check these places out.

Rhule didn’t hide his favorites, even though he wanted to give the whole town and Nebraska fan base credit for good food and culture.

“I can’t upset anybody but the best all around restaurant here in Lincoln, I believe is a place called Casa Bovina,” Rhule said on the College GameDay Podcast. “I sent (the menu and wine list) to my guy that I go to Italy with and he was like, ‘Are you in Manhattan?’ I was like ‘No bro. I’m in Lincoln. … But the other day the … Top 12 restaurants in the country (list came out) and over in Omaha, which is only 35 minutes away, is Yoshitomo. A sushi restaurant …

“So of course we go right there right? It’s my birthday, Julie and I go. Julie’s gluten free … so she has to order certain things. So Rece, I go, ‘Chef.’ Just raised my hand. I’m like, oh, and they kind of know who I am, I guess. Just seven courses of whatever you want to make.”

Whatever you want to make? Boy, Rhule better not be lying about this place!

“So Julie and I have the chef and we overlook them making the food,” Rhule said. “And this gentleman, a guy and he sees us, I say what’s up to him. He starts talking to Julie, he’s from Mississippi, huge Mississippi State fan knows who I am and doesn’t want to bother us. Nice guy starts making me the food next and he’s jumping in. So next thing we have five people and we’re doing this tasting, it was phenomenal.”

So next time you’re in the mood for sushi, make sure you head to Nebraska, based on Rhule’s suggestion at least. It’s awesome to see gems in popular college towns.

This writer has been to Lincoln and just wants to point out Lazlo’s Brewery and Grill is also top notch. But, Rhule’s recommendations definitely have to be taken into account.

It all sounds pretty good!
