Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule has enjoyed what he’s seen from his team early on during spring practice. The new Cornhuskers headman highlighted a few players who have grown this spring, such as offensive lineman Justin Evans-Jenkins. But which player has stood out the most to him so far? For Rhule, there are just too many good choices to choose from.

“I’ve been really pleased with everybody, except maybe Justin, like I just talked about,” said Rhule. “I really like all of our backs. I mean, I think our backs is one of our strengths; they all bring something different to the table. Omar Brown has been a guy that’s really coming on. So, there’s a lot of guys; you’ve heard me talk about A.J. Rollins.

“I haven’t had a chance to watch this tape yet. This will be a really big evaluation for me. Again, not an evaluation in terms of trying to get the guys passing; are we good, am I bad? Just, hey, what can we do to help each player play better? So, I didn’t give you a great answer there. I’m sorry.”

So far, there are too many great choices for Rhule to choose from, except Evans-Jenkins. He really likes what he’s seen from him. But it’s still early in the spring. So fans should anticipate by the time Nebraska’s spring game rolls around, their headman will have a better list of stand-out players from the spring.

Rhule praises Evans-Jenkins while providing injury update from Nebraska spring practice

Evans-Jenkins received the Cornhuskers headman’s stamp of approval following practice on Friday. Rhule was providing an injury update from the Cornhuskers’ spring practices and praised the young offensive lineman for how he’s stepped up in the absence of one of Nebraska’s key linemen.

“Yeah, Ben Scott got hurt on Thursday. (He) just got rolled up on, and so (he) should be out for a week or so; not long term, no,” said Rhule. “It was a knee at first. So we were kind of concerned that day if he was gonna be okay… but he should be back within a week or so.”

“I’m not, you know, again, I want lineman out there, but Ben’s played a lot of football. I think Justin Jenkins is really doing a nice job right now. Obviously, (I) wasn’t familiar with him. He’s from a place that I’ve recruited a long time, Irvington, NJ. But he’s really done a nice job. So, he went in there (and) hasn’t missed a beat. But in terms of other notable, notable injuries, nothing today. We had some guys get banged up today and leave, but nothing like serious.”
