Matt Rhule squashes rumors his wife is pregnant
A rumor was started on social media a couple of months ago that Julie Rhule, who is the wife of Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule, is pregnant with their fourth child.
Matt Rhule finally responded to that rumor this week, stating that it is absolutely not true. Rhule used the pregnancy example about his wife Julie Rhule as proof that narratives can get started that aren’t accurate.
“There hasn’t been a day that Julie and I have not been out somewhere and someone’s walked up to her and congratulated her on being pregnant,” Matt Rhule said. “But she’s not pregnant. Like someone put something on social media. Literally, I mean, there hasn’t been a day. She laughs about it. Like I have to just walk past.
“And we appreciate people for saying it. But in Julie’s mind she’s like, ‘I’m 50 and I would never announce that I’m pregnant after four weeks. So I would just tell everyone out there, like, be careful what you read. Be careful.”
The rumor started because of a Facebook post from Husker Power Central.
“Congratulations: Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule shares joyous moment from wife that she is 4 weeks pregnant with their fourth child,” the post said.

Matt Rhule went on to say that there are narratives about the Nebraska football program that aren’t true, too, after a 6-6 season that saw players enter the transfer portal and some staff turnover.
“I have people walking up to me, ‘I heard this, I heard that.’ … But the external message maybe sometimes is not what we’re saying here. I think we’re really excited about the opportunity,” Matt Rhule said. “You know me, I’m never going to say anything negative about anyone who leaves here. Sometimes people need to leave. Sometimes people need to leave – staff wise, player wise.
“The staff that we’ve added, the people we’ve added. People text me, ‘Hang in there.’ What are you talking about? We’re 6-6. We’ve gotta get better. I’ve really enjoyed it. … If I had one message it’s just be careful what you hear, be careful what you listen to, be careful what you read. There’s usually an agenda. … This is a time moving forward where we can make a jump. I expect us to make a jump.”
