Mickey Joseph confirms season-ending injury for Nick Henrich

Nebraska interim head coach Mickey Joseph shared disappointing news regarding fourth-year linebacker Nick Henrich on Tuesday. Henrich will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury.
“Nick’s going to be out, he’s out for the year,” Joseph said on Tuesday.
The co-captain has racked up 37 tackles through five games. He notched eight first-half tackles at Purdue before suffering the injury that ultimately put him on the sideline.
Henrich is an Omaha, Nebraska native and although his roster listing has him as a sophomore, he signed with Scott Frost and the Cornhuskers in 2019. He redshirted his first year on campus and made his first start in 2020.

Nebraska to face Illinois without Henrich
Through Week 8, Henrich was fifth on the Cornhuskers defense in tackles. Nebraska will have to carry on without him as they exit the bye week with a 3-4 record. Coming up on Saturday is a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff versus No. 17 Illinois. Illinois is also coming off of a bye, having defeated Minnesota 26-14 in Week 7.
The game in Lincoln carries high stakes, as the Illini are currently in the driver’s seat to capture the Big Ten West. The Huskers, on the other hand, are trying to get back on course after their defeat to the Boilermakers in West Lafayette.
