Mickey Joseph emphasizing Nebraska's losing streak to Wisconsin
When Nebraska joined the Big Ten West, the Cornhuskers expected to dominate the division. That, clearly, hasn’t happened. Instead, for the most part, Wisconsin has been the class of the division. In fact, Nebraska hasn’t even beaten Wisconsin since 2012–a fact that interim head coach Mickey Joseph knows incredibly well.
While speaking to the media, Mickey Joseph explained that Nebraska is emphasizing how long it’s been since the Cornhuskers beat the Badgers to help focus the team on the task at hand.
“They say it every morning, ‘2012,’” Mickey Joseph said. “2012. It’s been since 2012.”

“You just got to let that register with them. You’ve got to let them know, this is what’s been going on. So, it sits in their mind and they think about it.”
Nebraska has been playing the majority of this season with an interim head coach in Mickey Joseph. The Cornhuskers, at 3-7, can’t become bowl eligible. In situations like these, it can be hard to motivate your players. So, focusing on the losing streak is a great way to tap into their sense of pride.

During the losing streak, Nebraska is 8-0 against Wisconsin. It’s a streak that started with the Big 10 Championship Game in 2012, which was during the ‘Leaders and Legends’ era of the conference. In that game, Wisconsin scored 70 points on Nebraska.
Mickey Joseph on fan support
For better or worse, Nebraska has an incredibly loyal fanbase. Those fans have thrown their support behind Mickey Joseph and the program during an incredibly difficult season, for which Joseph is grateful.
“You appreciate the support,” Mickey Joseph said.
“You know? You appreciate the support. I’m sure Trev and them are going to do the best thing for the university but always appreciate the support. My thing is — I’m trying to help these kids move along and try to win a game and not focus about us. Because it’s not about me. You’re happy that you have the support that you have.”
