Nebraska faces another uphill battle Saturday against No. 3 Michigan. The Wolverines are 30-point favorites heading into the matchup, but interim head coach Mickey Joseph took a more positive outlook, noting that this is an opportunity for the Cornhuskers to test themselves against one of the nation’s best.

“Our players came back on Sunday with good energy just like I expected. It is a relentless group,” Joseph said. “I expect them to come back the way they did. They came back with good attitudes. We all know what is in front of us. Michigan is a really good football team.

“They are top five in rush offense and top five in every category on defense. We know what we are getting into. We know the task at hand but it is an opportunity and the ball is going to kick off on Saturday.”

Nebraska dropped its third consecutive game last week, falling to 2-4 in Big 10 play and 3-6 overall. A loss would knock the Cornhuskers out of bowl eligibility for the sixth-straight season as the search for a new head coach continues.

Even with his time likely numbered as the Cornhuskers’ headman, he’s been delighted with what his team has been able to in the face of hardships all year long.

“We talk to them about having a lot of pride about not being broken and to continue to fight and that we started something and we are going to finish it against adversity but we have to bow our neck and we have to play football,” Joseph said. “That is the only way you can approach it, but like I said it is a good group. It is a good group of kids and they are not going to quit.”

Kickoff between the Cornhuskers and Wolverines is set for 3:30 p.m. ET live on ABC. Michigan enters the matchup as 30.5-point favorites.
