Mickey Joseph reacts to learning Casey Thompson's age for the first time
Mickey Joseph had a hilarious reaction to learning the age of Nebraska quarterback Casey Thompson for the first time.
During a press conference, Joseph simply was shocked to learn Thompson was a veteran 24-year old, but looked at it as a positive.

“Casey’s 24? Man. I’ve been knowing Casey since he was a baby, but it’s good. He’s a veteran,” stated Joseph. “It’s back in the old Nebraska days, when you had all those fifth-year seniors out there and everybody was 24-years old. That’s okay. There’s no rush to get out there in the world. I know the NFL says they want them to be young, but usually these young kids, they’re not mature enough.
“But I didn’t know Casey was going to be 25, I thought he was younger than that. But it’s good to have a veteran quarterback at 24. That’s old.”
Moreover, Casey Thompson’s been around the block, playing at Texas before transferring to become the Cornhuskers’ quarterback. While his first season in Lincoln may not be going the way he expected, there’s still plenty of time to turn it around for Thompson, Mickey Joseph and Nebraska.

Moreover, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are scouring the country far and wide in search of their next possible head coach. Currently, the team has appointed Mickey Joseph the title of interim head coach after firing Scott Frost earlier in the season.
Joseph’s appointment to the position has not stopped Nebraska’s coaching search, which is fine with him. In fact, he believes Nebraska deserves a national coaching search.

“Well, we always talk about blocking out the noise. So we’re not going to worry about who the search firm is talking to. Because, like I said before, Nebraska deserves to have a national search.
“Our interview right now is in the next eight games. That’s your interview. So, we can’t do anything about that. We also talked to them; control what you can control. We can’t control that, so we’re going to block out the noise, and we’re going to focus on Indiana.”
Alas, Joseph will get the chance to lead the Cornhusker to their first victory with him at the helm this Saturday when they take on Indiana. The former assistant turned interim coach has an opportunity to show what he brings to the program on the field and in recruiting to finish off this season.
If he can find a way to salvage the year and get the Cornhuskers’ bowl eligible, along with bringing in a quality recruiting class, Nebraska might not have to look any further than him for their next head coach.
