Mickey Joseph reveals why Tommi Hill moved from cornerback to wide receiver
Prior to Nebraska’s game against Rutgers, there was a surprise in warm-ups for the Cornhuskers. Tommi Hill, a cornerback who started four games this season, was working out with the wide receivers. However, he did not play during the game against Rutgers.
While speaking to the media, Mickey Joseph was asked about Tommi Hill’s move to wide receiver from cornerback. In particular, why was it done, and will it be a permanent move?
“It can be,” Mickey Joseph replied. “You know, we think we need to get Tommi on the field.”

The Nebraska coaches looked at Tommi Hill as a player who they wanted on the field. The problem they had playing him at cornerback was that he was going through growing pains. Moving him to wide receiver had the potential to provide a spark for both him and the offense.

Alabama LB announces plan to transfer
“If you’ve seen, he struggled at corner. So, we wanted to get him on the field. He was a high school receiver. So, we decided just to move him over and see if he can help us,” Mickey Joseph explained.
Tommi Hill was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2021. He originally committed to Arizona State but transferred to Nebraska after one season.
