Nebraska beats Wisconsin to secure bowl eligibility, fans storm field in Lincoln
Nebraska secured a huge win for bowl eligibility, knocking off Wisconsin 44-25 on Saturday to put a nice stamp on the second season for coach Matt Rhule.
The fans wasted little time hopping over the wall to storm the field to celebrate with their favorite players. Check it out below.
Veteran defender Ty Robinson was swarmed down on the field, getting a Senior Day to remember.
“There’s no better place. This is the place for college football,” Robinson said on the Big Ten Network. “I love this place. This will be my home forever. To finish my last game here as a senior and for the season, it’s great to be here and end with a win.”
The game got off to a somewhat even start, but by halftime Nebraska was beginning the pull away. The Cornhuskers had a two-touchdown lead at the break and basically maintained that margin the rest of the way.
A 180-yard rushing performance helped considerably, aided by a three-touchdown performance by Dante Dowdell. The defense did the rest, with Robinson leading the charge.

“I feel like I’ve just poured myself into this program for the last six years, and I know the guys that decided to come back with me and go through this hard offseason and just battle with me,” Robinson said. “To finally see all the stuff that we’ve been working for to come true, it’s just amazing, man. It feels so good.”
Nebraska still has a couple games remaining. First the regular-season finale against Iowa (on the road), then a bowl game.
Securing bowl eligibility meant everything to Nebraska, which finished the 2023 campaign — Rhule’s first in charge — at just 5-7 on the year.
“The breakthrough and finally get that sixth win to go bowling, I mean, I’m emotional as I’m emotional on the sideline,” Robinson said. “Amazing. I’m so proud of this team and how far we’ve come, we’ve come so far.”
The senior Nebraska defender promised he’s not done here, either.
“Two more wins and we’re going to keep this thing going,” he said.
