Nebraska defensive back Javier Morton enters NCAA transfer portal

Nebraska defensive back Javier Morton has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Morton is a sophomore who arrived at Nebraska after a short stint in JUCO, recording just two tackles in limited action during his time with the Cornhuskers.

He played in eight games during his first season in 2022, then appeared in just two games for the Cornhuskers this fall. He did not record any statistics in 2023.

Prior to enrolling at Nebraska, Morton was a three-star prospect and the No. 22 overall JUCO player in the 2020 recruiting class. He was ranked as the No. 5 JUCO safety and the No. 5 overall player in the state of Kansas, hailing from Atlanta (GA) Stephenson.

Morton was originally committed to Alabama before having to go the JUCO route.

He then spent a year at Garden City Community College in Kansas, where he totaled 20 tackles with one sack, two pass breakups and one fumble recovery in his lone season. Morton also returned one punt for six yards.
