Nebraska football begs media not to post pictures of new alternate uniform
The Nebraska football program hosted a public event Monday evening to help launch their new alternate uniforms for the 2021 season but it appears that not all the details were considered.
The event was meant to involve Husker fans as extras in the jersey reveal video. However, it appears there was a miscommunication as local media showed up, expecting to grab visual content of the new uniforms, only to find out the actual jersey reveal is not happening until later in August.
Staff members scrambled to shut down media and others in the area, according to Kevin Sjuts of 10/11
USA Today Sports columnist Dan Wolken used the debacle to make an observation about the state of the Nebraska football program
It’s been a relatively dark century for the historic football program. Though the Huskers claim 46 conference championships and five national championships, they last won a conference championship in 1999. Since moving to the Big Ten in 2012, the program only claims one division championship, in their debut year in the conference.

Things were expected to turn around under head coach Scott Frost, who was hired in 2018 after leading UCF to an undefeated season, and Peach Bowl victory, in 2017. Frost, a born and raised Nebraskan who was the starting quarterback for the Huskers last national championship, has had a bumpy tenure to date.
Through three seasons, Frost’s record in Lincoln is 12-20. Heading into Year 4, Frost is believed to be on the hot seat.
Off the field, it’s been tumultuous as well. In June it was announced that Athletic Director Bill Moos. Moos indicated that the decision wasn’t entirely his choice. Just last week, Frost announced that his longtime friend and Chief of Staff Gerrod Lambrecht would be leaving the Nebraska football program.
Frost’s also lost a number of impact players in his time. Wide receivers Wan’Dale Robinson and JD Spielman both transferred out. Robinson had 1494 yards from scrimmage in his two seasons at Lincoln. He transferred back home to Kentucky after the 2020 season. Spielman left after the 2019 season after being the first player in Nebraska history with three 800-yard receiving seasons. Another notable losses include four four-stars from the state of Florida, all from the 2020 recruiting class and former four-star quarterback Luke McCaffrey, who transferred to Rice.
