Nebraska enters Top 25 in On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings
Nebraska added a second top-100 prospect to its 2024 recruiting class on Tuesday night, as Logan (Iowa) Magnolia four-star interior offensive lineman Grant Brix announced his commitment to the Cornhuskers.
“The biggest part of my decision was my belief in the coaching staff at Nebraska,” Brix told On3. “I believe in Coach Matt Rhule. He is getting the program back to where it wants to be. Along with my belief in Coach Rhule, I believe I can get developed by Coach Raiola and Coach Campbell (strength coach). The recruiting class coming in is strong too, and I have some great relationships with those guys.”
The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder is the No. 96 overall prospect and No. 3 IOL in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Iowa.
With Brix’s pledge, Nebraska made a two-spot jump to No. 24 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking. The Huskers are on the verge of closing 2024 with a top-25 class for the first time since the 2021 cycle.
Huskers’ class bolstered by in-state recruiting
Nebraska’s class now features 27 commitments, eight of whom are in-state recruits. Headlining the class is Ainsworth four-star tight end Carter Nelson, the No. 58 recruit, No. 6 TE and top-ranked player in the state.

“I finally saw how they are turning it around there and don’t have any doubts about that,” Nelson told On3 about the in-state program upon his commitment. “I also bonded with the other commits really well and it’s my home state. It’s where my family is from.”
“Nelson is a tight end prospect with a unique background and one of the stronger athletic profiles among jumbo athletes in the 2024 cycle. Measured at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds with solid length for the position prior to his senior season,” On3’s Charles Power wrote. “Shows top end speed and bowls over defenders in the open field. Looks to have considerable burst. The best athlete on the field by orders of magnitude.”
A trio of teammates follow Nelson as other top pledges close to Lincoln. Bellevue West four-star wide receiver Dae’vonn Hall and three-star WR Isaiah McMorris both committed on June 23, following their quarterback, three-star Daniel Kaelin — the No. 37 signal-caller in the cycle.
Other blue-chip commits for Matt Rhule and Co. include: Waipahu (Hi.) four-star IOL Preston Taumua, Altair (Texas) Rice Consolidated four-star safety Roger Gradney, DeSoto (Texas) four-star cornerback Mario Buford and Bay City (Texas) four-star defensive lineman Carlon Jones.
