5-star Ath Michael Terry Talks Nebraska & What’s Next In His Recruiting Process At On3 Elite Series

Nebraska secured its first five-star football commitment of the Matt Rhule era last cycle by landing quarterback Dylan Raiola. And now the Huskers are looking to repeat the feat again 2025, with five-star San Antonio (Texas) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III as one of their top targets.

Along with Texas, Texas A&M and Oregon, NU is in deep with the nation’s No. 1 athlete, hosting him last month for a pivotal official visit.

On Tuesday, Terry spoke with On3’s Josh Newberg about the efforts that the Huskers have put forth to recruit him and get him up to Lincoln for a visit.

“They were were calling me a lot, almost every day,” he said. “Just trying to get me up there, and they really set the bar high on the OV. They really showed me that they really want me up there.”

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder was on campus during Nebraska’s spring game, which showed off just how passionate Husker fans are about the program in his mind.

“It was crazy,” he added. “I did not expect that many people to go out to the spring game, so that was a pretty crazy experience.”

Terry now has upcoming official visits to Texas, Texas A&M and Oregon on the docket. And he said that a “home feeling” will be a key factor in his decision, which could come in August. He added that the program who has made him feel the most at home is in fact the Huskers.

“Definitely Nebraska has given me that feeling so far,” he said. “It was a great weekend, and my family and I had a great time. We got to see a lot of stuff around the campus, it was a good one.”

Huskers among those recruiting him at wide receiver

The do-it-all playmaker doesn’t have a defined position at the next level. The Huskers are recruiting him as a jumbo slot receiver, much in the image of Deebo Samuel. Oregon, meanwhile, is recruiting him to play running back, which is the position he’d most prefer at the next level.

He has connected well with offensive coordinator Will Stein, who was previously at UTSA. And he feels the two have a lot in common.

“They’re showing me a lot of attention,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They let me know they want me there and they see something in me.”

The in-state Aggies, who are “just down the road” from him, are also making a strong push.

“Coach Wiggins has been contacting me a lot. He came from Alabama, so he has a lot of insight about getting to the next level. They really just want to make me feel at home because it’s right there nearby.

The other in-state program, Texas, has come into his recruitment a little later. The Longhorns can see him at multiple different positions.

“It’s a really big thing to get an offer from them,” he said. “Coming from my hometown, that’s a big school and they’ve had a lot of success. What Coach Sark has going on over there [is impressive]. He’s getting a lot of guys into the NFL and bettering their career.”
