Nebraska football sellout streak lives on, as AD Trev Alberts announces Indiana game is sold out

The Nebraska football sellout streak will live for another week. The nation’s longest active sellout streak, which dates back to 1962 and stands at 385 games currently, might be in jeopardy this year following the firing of coach Scott Frost.
But it won’t fall this weekend against Indiana, with athletics director Trev Alberts confirming the contest with the Hoosiers is sold out, according to Robin Washut of HuskerOnline.
Alberts had provided an update late last week prior to a bye week for the Cornhuskers.
“Still moving forward,” Alberts said, as Sean Callahan of HuskerOnline reported Thursday. “I think we had a little over 1,000 or so, and that has been going down for Indiana. At this point, I think the reality is we are probably on a week-by-week basis. I don’t think we are going to be announcing ‘sold out the rest of the season.’
“I will just ask our fans to hang in there, thank them, and mostly I’m just trying to support these young men. It’s going to be a tough couple of months. I think we have a great opportunity with homecoming and Indiana to get back on track. It will be a week-to-week thing.”

The Cornhuskers lost the season opener to Northwestern in Week 0 in a game played abroad in Ireland. While they bounced back the following week with a 38-17 win over North Dakota, even that result wasn’t very convincing.
A 45-42 loss to Georgia Southern convinced Alberts it was time to move on from Frost.
“After the disappointing start to our season, I decided the best path forward for our program was to make a change in our head coaching position,” Alberts said in a press release.
If the Nebraska football sellout streak is to continue, it’ll take a real show of dedication from the fans. After this weekend’s sellout against Indiana the team’s remaining home games are against Illinois (Oct. 29), No. 21 Minnesota (Nov. 5) and Wisconsin (Nov. 19).
