Nebraska has landed a commitment from St. Thomas-Minnesota guard Kendall Blue out of the NCAA transfer portal. On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed his signing on Tuesday.

Blue has spent the last three years with the Tommies. He slowly increased his production each season.

By the time he was a junior in 2024-25, Kendall Blue was a full-blown star. He averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while starting all 34 of his teams games this season.

While he posted excellent numbers all season long, Blue also did some of his best work against the strongest competition. He posted one double-double all year long, but it came in a game against Oklahoma State.

During that contest, Blue recorded 18 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and a block. He helped keep the game reasonably competitive.

Kendall Blue scored 20 or more points in four games this season. His season high came with twin 22-point outings against Kansas City and Montana.

The 6-foot-6, 190-pound guard figures to be a tremendous addition for coach Fred Hoiberg and company. But, like most other programs in college basketball, Hoiberg is also dealing with some turnover caused by the NCAA transfer portal.

Nebraska loses a guard to the portal

Kendall Blue’s addition will help offset the loss of another guard through the transfer portal. Gavin Griffiths has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Griffiths spent one season with the Cornhuskers after starting his career at Rutgers.

Griffiths in a former four-star recruit, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 42 overall recruit in the 2023 recruiting class, and No. 8 shooting guard.

He averaged 2.1 points per game, including 1.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists during his lone season in Lincoln. He played in just 16 games during the 2024-25 season, and did not suit up for the Huskers during the College Basketball Crown this offseason.

On3’s Barkley Truax also contributed to this report.
