Nebraska men's basketball reveals 2023-2024 non-conference schedule
We are midway through the college basketball offseason, and teams across the country have an idea of what their opening day rosters will look like. But one thing most programs and their fans are waiting on is their schedule for the 2023-2024 season. Well, fans of the Nebraska Cornhuskers men’s basketball program don’t have to wait any longer, as the team recently revealed its non-conference schedule for next season.
There are a number of quality opponents on Nebraska’s non-conference schedule. Still, there are two that stand out more than the rest: the Creighton Blue Jays and Kansas State Wildcats. Both teams went on deep runs into the Men’s March Madness Championship Tournament. And both are expected to be top-tier programs this season. And ESPN’s most recent way too early top 25 rankings, Creighton and Kansas State are both mentioned, with the Blue Jays ranking No. 13 overall.
You can check out the complete list of non-conference opponents, along with the time, date, and location of each matchup, in the picture below.
The Cornhuskers will officially tip off their 2023-2024 campaign on Oct. 29 against Doane in an exhibition. That contest will take place in their home confines in Lincoln, NE. Their official start to next season will be the following week when they take on Lindenwood at home on Nov. 6.
Home sweet home
Last season, Nebraska played just five of its 11 non-conference games in front of its home crowd. That will change significantly this year.

The Huskers will host nine non-con home contests in 2023-24, including its first five outings. The last time they had more was 2010-11 – before the move to a 20-game conference schedule – when they played 11 at Bob Devaney Sports Center.
The primary reason is that NU isn’t traveling for a multi-team event (MTE) this season. Instead, it’s hosting an extended three-game MTE with Stony Brook, Duquesne, and Rider.
On top of that, Nebraska will only play one true road game at Kansas State. The only other trip outside Lincoln will be to Sioux Falls, S.D., for a neutral-site tilt vs. Oregon State. When the Huskers last played at The Pentagon in 2018 against Oklahoma State, the crowd was roughly 90 percent NU fans.
Instate rival Creighton will be the only high-major opponent that comes to Pinnacle Bank Arena this year. The annual ACC/Big Ten Challenges ended last season, and the Huskers are not part of this round of the Gavitt Games (Big Ten vs. Big East).
