No. 4 Nebraska wrestling handled No. 9 Michigan Friday night in a late season dual in Lincoln. On senior night, the Huskers enjoyed the success with a 25-7 win over the Wolverines.

Racing out to an 18-0 with wins in the first six bouts, Nebraska never trailed and pulled off some big wins along the way. That included an intriguing bout at 149 pounds, a rematch of the 2022 Big Ten Finals.

But, it began with an upset at 125 pounds with Caleb Smith knocking off Michael DeAugustino 8-5 to take a 3-0 lead.

As far as favorites go, Michigan’s Dylan Ragusin has been a terror at 133 pounds this season. But this is where Nebraska shook Michigan.

Jacob Van Dee earned a 3-2 decision over Ragusin, upsetting him in the process. With that, the Huskers led 6-0 after two bouts.

Nebraska was favored over Michigan in the next three bouts based on the individual rankings and the Huskers won them all to take a 15-0 lead. That included a win from Ridge Lovett at 149 over Austin Gomez. Gomez previously beat Lovett in the 2022 Big Ten finals when he was at Wisconsin.

Lovett had a commanding lead but a late takedown for Gomez kept it to a decision. Still, a 15-0 lead looked insurmountable at that point.

Antrell Taylor pulled off an upset over Michigan’s Cam Amine and the Wolverines didn’t even get on the board until former national champion Shane Griffith got a 1-0 decision over Bubba Wilson.

Michigan’s other victory came at heavyweight as Lucas Davison got the major decision. With the end result, Nebraska improved to 11-1, 6-1 and Michigan fell to 6-4 (4-3).
