Nebraska offers On3 Consensus 4-star WR DJ Allen
On3 Consensus four-star receiver DJ Allen of Gladewater, Texas, has become arguably the hottest prospect in the Lone Star State ever since he decommitted from TCU last week.
On Thursday, Allen picked up an offer from Nebraska. The Huskers join a list of new schools, like Texas Tech, that have joined in the pursuit to land his commitment.
The 5-foot-11, 189-pound DJ Allen is the No. 173 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the No. 27 receiver and the 31st best player in Texas, according to the On3 Consensus.
Before he committed to TCU in the summer, DJ Allen took official visits to Arkansas, Baylor and USC. Allen can take another official visit to TCU, per NCAA rules, if he chooses to do so. So, Allen has at least two more official visits available to consider.
Intel indicates that Texas Tech, under new coach Joey McGuire, is expected to be a heavy factor in DJ Allen’s recruitment.

Even with limited scholarships available in the 2022 class, Nebraska has disappointed this recruiting cycle. The Huskers have the No. 65 class in the On3 Consensus Football Team Recruiting Rank.
The Huskers have only nine commitments – but can sign somewhere around 12 to 13 players – so DJ Allen could become a priority target.
The Huskers do not have an On3 Consensus four-star player committed in this class. In-state linebacker Ernest Hausmann ranks as a three-star in the On3 Consensus, but On3 ranks him as a four-star prospect.
Victor Jones Jr., Jake Appleget and Jalil Martin are On3 Consensus three-star receiver commits that are already part of the NU class.
