Nebraska QB Casey Thompson 'feels good' despite injury
During Nebraska’s win over Rutgers, Casey Thompson went down with an injury. It occurred shortly before halftime and Thompson was able to return to the game later, eventually finding Trey Palmer for the go-ahead score.
While speaking to the media, Casey Thompson explained to the media that the game against Rutgers was a physical one. He also said that he knew he would go back into the game, so long as doctors cleared him to do so.
“I feel good,” Casey Thompson said. “We won the game, so it’s a lot easier to be sore after a win than it is after a loss.”

“So, I know I’m gonna be sore. We’re going to be sore. It was a physical game on the road. A lot of adversity on the push through tonight, from the crowd noise, the music, having to change different snap counts–just different stuff like that,” Casey Thompson said.
“We did a good job finishing the second half, so I feel good right now.”
Casey Thompson transferred from Texas to Nebraska during the offseason. He has thrown for 1,497 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions on the season. Thompson was replaced by Chubba Purdy, a former four-star in the Class of 2020 who transferred in from Florida State.

Casey Thompson on momentum within the program
Following back-to-back wins in the Big Ten, Nebraska has momentum going forward for the first time in a long time. Casey Thompson spoke about this newfound momentum.
“I think it’s the first time winning two back-to-back Big Ten games since 2018. We want to build a culture of winning around here, but we have to focus on the process and winning on a daily bases. So, we’re just focused on taking one day at a time and one week at a time. And I think since Mickey Joseph has taken over, he’s done a good job of allowing us to focus on the task at hand and not get too ahead of ourselves,” Casey Thompson said.
“Before we can talk about any end-of-the-season awards and accolades, and goals, we just try to take it one day at a time. But it’s good for us as a team to get two wins under our belt, and we’re looking to continue that win streak.”
