Report: Nebraska to start Heinrich Haarberg at quarterback against Michigan
Nebraska‘s quarterback situation has been in flux in recent weeks, thanks to an injury to starting quarterback Jeff Sims. In the absence of Sims, backup Heinrich Haarberg has played well.
So even with Sims healthy on Saturday, Nebraska will start Heinrich against No. 2 Michigan, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Heinrich has started back-to-back games against Northern Illinois and Louisiana Tech, leading the Huskers to wins in both games.
He has been a significant rushing threat. In fact, he leads the team in rushing yardage with 272 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
In addition to that, Heinrich Haarberg has gone 24-of-47 passing for 278 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He has been a steady presence at quarterback for the Huskers after Sims had struggled early on.
Turnovers were a big problem for Nebraska with Sims operating the offense. He had thrown four interceptions to just one touchdown in his limited action.

On the season, Sims has gone 20-of-34 passing for 220 yards, with the one touchdown and four interceptions. He has also run for 156 yards and a touchdown.
Luke Reimer on track to play
Nebraska should have a key defender available on Saturday when the Cornhuskers host Michigan. Head coach Matt Rhule said on Thursday that linebacker Luke Reimer is expected to play, despite dealing with an injury from the previous week.
Reimer, who has played in all four games to date, left a win against Louisiana Tech with an injury and was deemed questionable earlier in the week. While discussing the realities of letting guys play when they’re not fully healthy, Rhule shared that the veteran linebacker is on track to do something of that nature this weekend.
“Guys will go out there and they’ll battle. I think Luke’s on schedule to play, we believe Luke will play,” Rhule said.
Nebraska and Michigan are set to meet at 3:30 p.m. ET with a broadcast on FOX.
