The hits keep coming for Nebraska at wide receiver. Omar Manning left Friday night’s game against Rutgers with an apparent injury.

Manning reached for his left foot and ended up walking off the field after the play. He only has three receptions for 24 yards this season, but he’s yet another injury for the Cornhuskers at the position.

Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda didn’t make the trip to Rutgers due to an injury, meaning Nebraska might have to get creative to fill some voids. Cornerback Tommi Hill worked with the wide receivers in pregame warmups and is wearing a new number, meaning he could get the call to help Casey Thompson and the offense.

Nebraska entered Friday night’s matchup 2-3, but is looking to build momentum off last week’s victory over Indiana.

A position change could be on the horizon for Tommi Hill at Nebraska. Based on pregame warmups Friday night, it seems like he might be moving to the other side of the ball.

Hill, who started the Cornhuskers’ first four games at cornerback, worked out with the wide receivers prior to the Friday night game against Rutgersaccording to HuskerOnline’s Sean Callahan. He played wide receiver at times in high school, according to the Omaha World-Herald’s Evan Bland, totaling 85 catches for 1,586 yards and 24 touchdowns at Edgewater High School in Florida.

Hill didn’t start last week’s game against Indiana, but has 17 total tackles in his first season with the Cornhuskers. He started his career with Arizona State last season before arriving in Lincoln via the transfer portal.

The timing of Hill’s potential switch is interesting. Running back Rahmir Johnson and wide receiver Isaiah Garcia-Castaneda didn’t make the trip to Rutgers due to injury, according to 247Sports’ Brian Christopherson. Hill will wear No. 2 on offense Friday night.
