Nick Henrich credits Nebraska medical staff for help in recovery
Ahead of the 2023 season, Nebraska Cornhuskers linebacker Nick Henrich is hoping to find a way to become a breakout star. This comes after his 2022 campaign was cut short due to injuries and he only played in five games.
As Fall Camp begins, Henrich opened up about the recovery process after suffering a season-ending injury in 2022.
“Yeah, I mean, it’s hard to put an exact date on it, but it was definitely a long process,” Nick Henrich said. “Probably longer than any injury I’ve had before.”
In September last season, Henrich missed a couple of games due to injuries. Then, he tore his ACL against Purdue. In a career where he has already dealt with injuries as a freshman in 2019, this was the toughest and he credits the Nebraska medical staff for helping him recover to where he can compete now.
“But, you know, my coaches and teammates were so supportive and we have such a great medical staff here that they made the process really easy.”
Taking a redshirt in 2019 and then playing through the pandemic-impacted season, Nick Henrich will only be a junior in 2023 despite having been on campus for four years. He brings tons of experience and will look to be a leader with a new coaching staff implementing a new 3-3-5 defense. It’s a defense that Henrich loves to play in.

“Yeah, I love the freedom this defense gives you to go kind of run around and make plays,” Nick Henrich said. “And, yeah, I’d say this defense just really allows you to play fast and that’s going to be an advantage to get athletes on the field and all swarm to the ball.”
Ty Robinson is starting to feel normal after surgery
Another Nebraska defender who needed surgery was Ty Robinson, a defensive lineman who had shoulder surgery. Now, as he explained, he’s finally starting to feel like himself again.
“I feel 100% right, back to normal. In the spring, I was just rehabbing from my shoulder. And they had me working out every day, six days a week. Swimming and running, making sure that I kept my weight down,” Robinson said.
“I was in probably some of the best shape of my life endurance-wise, and I slimmed back down. I’m around like 304 [pounds] now. I’m hoping to lose another five pounds during fall camp, but I had a busy spring.”
