Report: Jordy Bahl expected to transfer to Nebraska
Massive news out of the college softball world came out on Monday, with Oklahoma star pitcher Jordy Bahl announcing she will be entering the NCAA transfer portal. Bahl is a two-time national champion with the Sooners but wants to finish out her career closer to home.
Bahl is from around the Omaha area and is reportedly going to follow through on her word.
According to Alex Scarborough of ESPN, Bahl is “expected” to transfer to Nebraska and play for the Cornhuskers. A huge addition for the program, one of the best pitchers in the country will be heading to Lincoln for the 2024 season.
“A sophomore and two-time All-American, Bahl is expected to transfer to Nebraska, sources told ESPN,” Scarborough said.
Bahl will not be committing to Nebraska blindly. Before signing to play with Oklahoma, she was committed to play for the hometown Huskers. There is already familiarity between the star pitcher and those involved with the softball program.
“Worthy of note: Bahl was originally committed to Nebraska before flipping to and signing with OU,” Justin McLeod of Extra Inning Softball pointed out. “She’s familiar with the Huskers’ staff and program.
A significant move in the world of college softball, the sport’s best pitcher is heading home.
Nebraska adding Bahl after NCAA Tournament season
With Bahl reportedly heading to Nebraska, she would be a nice addition to what is already a nice Cornhusker team. Two consecutive seasons have resulted in NCAA Tournament appearances and 2022 saw a Big Ten Tournament championship.

Nebraska headed to Stillwater this season during the regional round and was able to be one of the two final teams remaining. Of course, Oklahoma State wound up on the winning end, eliminating the Huskers on the first of two potential opportunities.
The goal with Bahl soon on the roster will to be go a couple of steps forward and make the Women’s College World Series.
You have to go back a decade since Nebraska last made an appearance in Oklahoma City during the 2013 season. There is not a national championship to the program’s name but there is a runner-up in 1985, even if the NCAA took it away from them.
Bahl has more than enough experience to be a leader in Lincoln and help them get back to college softball’s biggest stage. Whenever their backs are against the wall, having Bahl in the circle likely means you are going to have a pitching advantage.
