Jordy Bahl breaks down the highs, lows after leaving Oklahoma for Nebraska
For someone who just won a national championship, Jordy Bahl had a roller coaster of a week. After winning another title with Oklahoma, she inserted her name into the NCAA transfer portal. Home was always going to be the destination, choosing to play for Nebraska. A huge addition for the Cornhuskers, getting one of the best pitchers in the country.
Bahl was asked about the emotions of her transfer process, dating back to June 8 when Oklahoma officially three-peated. The high of celebrating with teammates over the next few days came crashing down when she had to break the news of leaving Norman.
“It was a week of a lot of highs and also some low feelings,” Bahl said. “It was hard to leave what has been so great the last two years as far as the people and everything. You come off of winning a national championship and going to Toby Keith’s and hanging out with him afterward, which was pretty cool. Then you have to break it to your teammates and your coaches that you’ve decided to make the decision to come home. So, that was kind of sad.’
From the moment Bahl publicly announced her decision, “home” was the keyword from her. Being from the Omaha area, the pitcher missed being away from family during her time in Oklahoma. Nebraska provides her the opportunity to be closer to loved ones while still being an elite player in the circle.
Now settled in, the emotions are back to high for Bahl, ready to get her journey underway in Lincoln.

“Once I got home, started to settle in, it’s started to sink in that this is real,” Bahl said. “I’m not going to have to leave home again. I’m going to get to represent it. That’s been a feeling of happiness, relief, joy. Just very excited to be here.”
The state for Bahl from the 2023 season is simply incredible. In 38 appearances, she threw 147.1 innings with a 0.90 ERA. Just 19 earned runs were given up all season, as batters were not able to have much success against Bahl. You have 192 strikeouts on the year from Bahl compared to just 37 walks. Truly impressive.
Now, Nebraska not only gets an elite pitcher but also somebody who knows what it takes to win at the Women’s College World Series. Emotions of recent weeks may linger over the summer but once it’s time to get back onto the diamond, Bahl will be ready to rock and roll.
