Scott Frost reveals team-bonding opportunity in Ireland

Nebraska and Scott Frost’s main focus this week in Ireland is, surely, to beat Northwestern in the season opener on Saturday. But that doesn’t mean the Cornhuskers head coach hasn’t found some time to help his team bond and keep loose.
After practice on Wednesday, Frost took his team to dinner and to see some traditional Irish dancing. While he and the other older coaches might been the only ones to recognize any of the tunes, Frost thinks the bond this team has will be key this season.
“Yeah we had a good time last night,” Frost told reporters. “They had one of their best practices yesterday. We got on the bus and went to dinner, they saw some traditional Irish music and traditional Irish dancing. I think some of the old coaches like me were the only ones who knew some of the lyrics to the songs. But they really got into it. Enjoyed it. This is a tight-knit group and I think they’re going to be there for each other all year and it’s going to be fun to watch.”
And apparently, some of the players got to get in on the dancing, too. One was linebacker Eteva Mauga-Clements, and the other is one of the Boerkircher brothers on the roster — Frost didn’t specify if it was Ian Boerkircher or Nate Boerkircher.

Either way, it surely amused their teammates.
Only two guys got to dance. Boerkircher and ‘Va both danced. I know for sure ‘Va isn’t Irish,” Frost quipped. “I don’t know about Boer. They held their own.”
Dancing aside, Frost is hopeful this tight knit group will lift each other up throughout the season and lead the Huskers to their first bowl game during his tenure. It all starts on Saturday at 12:30 EST against the Wildcats.
