Turner Corcoran believes Ben Scott will help Nebraska offensive line
Nebraska offensive lineman Turner Corcoran will have some new help on the line this year with some transfers and freshmen coming in as reinforcements, including Arizona State transfer Ben Scott.
Scott has three seasons of experience starting for the Sun Devils. In 2020 and 2021, Scott started at right tackle while the lineman was the starting center during the 2022 season.
Corcoran spoke to the media recently and gave his thoughts on how Scott is looking heading into fall camp.
“He’s looking great,” Corcoran said. “He’s doing a good job. He’s really bonded well with all of us. He’s a really good guy. He’s a veteran player so he knows his stuff. I think he’s gonna help us out a lot this year.”
Scott has two years of eligibility remaining as does Corcoran. A Lawrence, Kan., native, Corcoran was a Week 2 starter as a true freshman and has started every game since. He has also started all across the line, making starts at left tackle, left guard and right tackle. When asked what he was going to be playing this year, Concoran said “Tackle” but did not specify which side of the line.
While Scott is new to the Cornhuskers, Corcoran is entering his third season at Nebraska. But this is the first season with head coach Matt Rhule leading the team.
Rhule is looking to complete a major turnaround of the Cornhuskers’ program, which has fallen on hard times in recent seasons.

Corcoran explained Rhule’s message to the team as they prepare to embark on his first season in Lincoln, Neb.
“Just come out and compete,” Corcoran said. “We’ve got a long camp ahead of us and he just wants us to stay healthy, do our job of recovering and hydrating, getting to know our playbook and stuff like that. And just come out ready to compete.”
Scott was one of three offensive linemen to transfer into the program along with former Georgia lineman Jacob Hood and former Utah lineman Tyler Knaak.
But he might not be able to play right away with Hood, who was a three-star recruit coming out of high school in the class of 2022. Rhule told the media this week that Hood is dealing with an injury.
“Jacob’s dealing with some chronic ankle stuff,” Rhule said. “So he’s kind of a little bit more in rehab mode right now. That’s why he wasn’t there last night. He was meeting with the doctors.”
