Will Bolt encouraged by Nebraska's current confidence
Fresh off a series win over Minnesota at home, Nebraska baseball coach Will Bolt spoke about the team’s confidence level this season. The Cornhuskers are currently 24-16-1 on the year, and they showed out in a big way against Minnesota by putting up 36 runs over the three-game stretch.
They lost their first game of the conference matchup, but rallied off the next two wins easily. The second game of the series saw Nebraska win 18-0 on Saturday. Nebraska will look to continue their momentum going forward in Bolt’s fourth year as coach since taking over in 2020 — the COVID-19 shortened season.
Will Bolt on Nebraska’s confidence
Coming off their series win over Minnesota, Bolt was asked if he felt like the team was back on track from a confidence perspective. He spoke briefly about his team’s current confidence level — something he claimed hasn’t been an issue at all as opposed to their focus level.
“Yeah, again I don’t think really necessarily the confidence has lacked. I just think, you know we’ve got an older bunch. At times I know the focus hasn’t been exactly where we need it to be and the confidence to me has never been an issue,” said Bolt.

“To this weekend, I thought we showed up three days in a row with really good focus and very competitive for three-straight days. It wasn’t necessarily perfect all of the time but it was very competitive and we got a series win out of it because of that.
Bolt is no stranger to high expectations for his team, having finished first in the Big Ten in 2021 and reaching the postseason. Unfortunately, they fell twice in the regional round to one-seed Arkansas that season. Last year, the team took a small step back and finished with a 23-30 overall record — and a ninth-place finish in the conference.
Nebraska now prepares for a single game at home against North Dakota State, before travelling to College Park to take on Maryland in a three-game series.
