Wisconsin transfer guard Connor Essegian found his new home in the transfer portal. The former Badger committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He averaged 3.2 points and 0.8 rebounds per game last year for Wisconsin.

This year, Nebraska had one of their best seasons in recent memory, finishing with a 23-11 overall record. The Huskers lost in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament, losing 98-83 to the Texas A&M Aggies.

Connor Essegian had a strong freshman campaign for the Badgers, earning Big Ten All-Freshman honors after averaging 11.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 27.4 minutes per game.

Essegian’s usage and minutes reduced significantly in year two in Madison, only playing an average of 7.3 minutes per game.

When Essegian first entered the transfer portal, he relayed a message to Wisconsin faithful through Joe Tipton and On3.

“First off, I would like to say thank you Badger Nation for everything,” Essegian said in a statement to On3. “These last two years in Madison have been nothing short of amazing. This place has helped shape me into the person I am today. The city and university will forever have a special place in my heart. Thank you to the all of the fans and the community for your unconditional love and support. You took me in as your own and I am forever grateful for that.

“Thank you to my teammates who have become part of my forever family and for the relationships and memories we’ve created. Thank you to the coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to play at the highest level. Thank you to my friends and family for supporting me through this difficult process. But after further consideration, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal. Thank you Wisconsin.”
