3-star ATH Ty Adams flips to North Carolina from East Carolina
Swainsboro (Ga.) three-star athlete Ty Adams flipped his commitment to North Carolina from East Carolina on Sunday night. He previously announced his pledge to the Pirates on June 19.
Adams is the No. 1,282 overall prospect and No. 79 athlete in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 121 player in Georgia.
The 6-foot-0, 170 pound prospect made his decision following an unofficial visit to Chapel Hill on Aug. 27. In addition to East Carolina and North Carolina, Adams also received an offer from Georgia Tech.
“I would like to take this time to thank Coach Houston Coach Ellis and the rest of the East Carolina Football staff for believing in my abilities enough to offer me a full scholarship, with that being said my family and I have decided to de-commit from ECU and pledge my commitment to the University of North Carolina,” Adams wrote in a statement published to social media. “Coach Mack Brown, Coach Dre Bly and the rest of the Tar Heel family really shed light to me and my family to why this allegiance to UNC will not only be the best for us for the next 4 to 5 years, but for a lifetime.

He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.9K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
