5-star Ian Jackson previews North Carolina visit
Five-star shooting guard Ian Jackson will take his fourth official visit to North Carolina on January 6th. The 6-foot-5 2024 prospect out of the Bronx (N.Y.) Cardinal Hayes has also visited Kentucky, LSU, and Oregon.
Ahead of his trip to Chapel Hill, Jackson discussed what he’s looking forward to.
“Just the historic background of the school, all the great alumni from the school, and all pros they got, that’s what I’m really looking forward to,” Jackson, the No. 2 overall prospect in the class, said of his upcoming trip to North Carolina.
Jackson says UNC head coach Hubert Davis is personally handling his recruitment.
“He’s a cool guy,” Jackson said of coach Davis. “He played in New York (Knicks) so we kind of have a familiarity, with each from both being in New York so we connect like that.”

While he hasn’t made a decision yet, Jackson knows what he’s looking for in a school.
“Just somewhere that can help me become a pro,” he says. “Somewhere that can help me get to where I want to go, help me be the readiest to when I hopefully enter the NBA draft.”
5-star Ian Jackson nearing a decision but “still enjoying the process”
Scouting Summary
“Ian Jackson is a high-level athlete,” On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote. “He has long arms, broad shoulders, and explosive athleticism in the paint. Jackson has confidence with the ball in his hands, he is decisive in getting downhill to the rim. He can rise up and finish above the rim, and pull up in the mid-range with an assortment of floaters and pull-ups. Jackson is a capable shooter from three, but he still needs polish with this part of his game. His shot selection can get a little wild at times. He is comfortable on the ball, but would like to see him see the floor better. He has natural athletic tools and the utmost confidence. Jackson can be a high-level defender who gives great effort.”
