4-star WR Alex Taylor commits to North Carolina: 'It just felt like home'
Following official visits to Clemson and NC State, Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley four-star wide receiver Alex Taylor thought he might end up at one of those schools. Taylor didn’t let himself get too far ahead though as he knew he had an important official to North Carolina at the end of the month.
The ultimately worked in the favor of the Tar Heels. During that visit, Taylor knew he had found his home and a month later he made it official announcing to the public that he was committed to North Carolina.
“I just kept comparing North Carolina to other schools,” Taylor told On3. “I just kept talking to them and on the official, it just felt like home being there with the other guys who were committed. It was just that feeling and it was a great experience being around those guys.”
Taylor’s relationship with North Carolina wide receivers coach Lonnie Galloway is what ultimately sold him on the Tar Heels. North Carolina extended an offer to Taylor when he was a sophomore and from the at moment on he and Galloway were connected at the hip.
On the field Taylor feels like Galloway is the perfect coach to get him to the NFL like he’s done for so many others. Off of it, he views Galloways as a father-figure and a person he can go to no matter what.
“Coach Galloway told me that I’m their guy and the class could start with me,” said Taylor, the No. 279 player in the 2024 class. “He told me he talked with guys who were waiting to see what I was doing. I felt like they thought I was staple in their 2024 class.”

Taylor gets to play for a legend close to home
As excited as he is to play for Galloway, Taylor couldn’t hide his excitement when it came to playing for a head coach like Mack Brown.
A hall-of-famer and national title winner, Taylor believes that Brown is the coach who can turn the Tar Heels into a team that not only competes for national titles, but one that can eventually play for a national title.
“I honestly love Coach Brown and being able to stay in my home state to play for him,” Taylor said. “With his resume, he knows what it takes to get to the tope and he’s also sent a lot of guys to the NFL.
..Getting to stay home is exciting for me knowing that I can compete for an ACC title and maybe a national title in my home state. It’s not too far from home so my parents and the rest of my family can come see me play whenever. I’m looking forward to getting up there and getting to work.”
