Bill Belichick sending free pizzas to UNC fraternities ahead of Duke game
Bill Belichick is involving himself on campus for his first edition of The Tobacco Road Rivalry.
Ahead of North Carolina vs. No. 2 Duke in Durham on Saturday, fraternities on campus received an email from the director of football operations for the Tar Heels. That message said that Belichick wanted to buy them all pizza for tip-off in the rivalry game tomorrow night.
“My name is Alec Kerr, Director of Football Operations here at UNC,” Kerr wrote in the email. “Coach Belichick wants to get your fraternity pizza for the UNC vs. Duke game tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.. With that being said, our plan is to deliver the pizzas on behalf of Coach Belichick to your house.”
‘Chapel Bill’ has been the biggest story on campus the past month and a half since his hire by UNC. That’s ahead of his debut season as their head coach with the work he has done to put together a staff and a roster before spring ball in a couple of weeks.
Now, though, before the first meeting on the court between the Tar Heels and Blue Devils since his arrival, Belichick is proving to their student body that his first words really were ‘Beat Duke’.

After a 73-65 loss at Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Hubert Davis said keeping the Tar Heels upbeat is the easiest thing about what they’ll have to do moving forward.
“Oh, that’s easy. You know, that’s easy,” Davis said postgame. “I do (think so). I do.”
That’s simply so, though, because, as Davis said, UNC has no other option than to be positive right now and keep going into every game as such.
“I mean, what choice do you have? I mean, yeah. You do,” Davis said. “I really believe that there is no choice. The choice is to get back up and step forward and continue to competitively fight and prepare and continue to improve. I just don’t even think there is a choice.”
“I love this team,” said Davis. “It’s a great lesson for this group and this team. It’s a great lesson for life.”
