Casey Cook just made the play of the afternoon during the NCAA Baseball Tournament for North Carolina.
With the Tar Heels leading by one run over Wright State, Cook kept the game in North Carolina’s favor. The outfielder leaped into the air, and reached back over the fence like he was Odell Beckham Jr. to bring a home run back.
Check out the video of the phenomenal play below. It doesn’t get much better than that when it comes to robbing a long ball.
That’s going to be on the SportCenter Top Ten later this evening. If not, whoever’s job it is to rank the day’s best plays needs to be seriously evaluated.
With Casey Cook’s catch, North Carolina was able to hang on to their all-important lead, and it could give them the momentum they need to find victory this afternoon.

Speaking with the ESPN broadcast during the Tar Heels’ showdown against Wright State, Forbes explained what his thought process has been regarding North Carolina being unable to score baserunners over the last 24 hours, and why he believes they’ll get things going.
“Forget it quickly. Keep getting them on base, like we have today,” explained Forbes. “Obviously the same thing has happened today, but I’m a firm believer that if you keep getting them out there, somebody is going to bust one.”
Continuing, Forbes’ starting pitcher for Saturday’s game, Max Carlson, has been pretty dang good thus far, allowing no hits through three innings pitched. However, the umpire had an issue with Carlson’s pitching motion, which the Tar Heels rectified quickly, as the team looks to stay hot.
“No doubt about it. He’s a veteran, big-game type guy,” added Forbes. “The conversation was just about the delivery. It’s got to be continuous. So we fixed that real quick, and we’re ready to go.”
