North Carolina center Armando Bacot goes down with apparent ankle injury
Arguably the game of the night in college basketball takes place in Charlottesville with Virginia playing host to North Carolina. Consistently one of the best matchups in the ACC, stars will be all over the court, including UNC center Armadno Bacot.
However, the Tar Heels star got into some injury trouble early in the game. When going up for a rebound, Bacot came down on his ankle weird and seemed to roll it. While he stayed on the court for a short bit, he was able to limp off toward the bench.
Shortly after, ESPN play by play man Dan Shulman reported Bacot was no longer on the sideline and was heading to the locker room. A potentially huge loss for North Carolina if he cannot continue on Tuesday night.
Another positive note — it’s not the same ankle that bothered Bacot during the Tar Heels’ run to the Final Four. Tuesday night sees the left ankle being a problem.
UPDATE: ESPN sideline reporter Andraya Carter was able to get an update on Bacot and it’s a positive one for North Carolina fans. While he is still in the locker room, the training staff is rolling the star’s left ankle. Bacot is going to try to get back into the game and help the Tar Heels get a crucial win on the road.

“We saw Armando Bacot go down, Carter said. “He always brings energy and enthusiasm. They are retaping his taking ankle and he is going to try to give it a go, guys.”
While he has not officially made his way back onto the court, it’s encouraging the initial thought is he can return to the game.
When Bacot decided to return for another season in Chapel Hill, winning a national championship was the expectations. While there have been struggles along the way, Bacot is still averaging a double-double — going for 18.8 points and 11.2 rebounds a night.
