The ACC tests are not stopping for North Carolina any time soon. Just two days after defeating Clemson by 20, a ranked Miami squad comes to Chapel Hill, hoping to break the momentum the Tar Heels seemingly gained back.

North Carolina heads into the halftime break with a deficit but there are possibly bigger problems at hand. Star center Armando Bacot has left the game due to an injury. However, the exact problem is not known. Bacot was shown by the ESPN broadcast limping into the locker room.

It’s quite possible there is just a slight knock for Bacot and he was getting a head start with a trip down the tunnel. That’s the best-case scenario and one people in the Dean Dome wearing Carolina Blue will be praying for.

Before leaving with the injury, Bacot was having a good night for UNC. He has some work to do if another double-double is added to the stat sheet — assuming there is a return to the court. Bacot has 10 first-half points and two points.

UPDATE: Bacot has returned to begin the second half for North Carolina. According to the ESPN broadcast, he was dealing with a back problem.

“You all saw Armando Bacot go back into halftime a little earlier than the rest of the team,” ESPN sideline reporter Andraya Carter said. “I was told his back was a little tight. They were working on his back at halftime. I was also told he should be good to go.”

Caleb Love describes rock bottom for North Carolina

North Carolina responded in a big way in this weekend’s 20-point win over Clemson. It was the kind of performance the Tar Heels needed after feeling as though they were at their lowest. In hindsight, though, junior guard Caleb Love thinks it worked out the best way it could have for UNC.

Love said that he really liked how he and his team answered the bell with their 91-71 victory over the Tigers. He said their recent three-game skid is actually something they may have needed in order to fix anything that was wrong both on and off the court.

“I feel like everything happens for a reason. We probably did need that,” Love said. “We probably had to hit rock bottom. Feel what we were feeling, address certain problems that needed to be addressed. I feel like it worked out for the best and we’ve just got to build off this win.”
