Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna three-star running back Davion Gause knows what it’s like to win consistently. His high school has made it to the state championship game eight years running.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pounder is only the No. 42 tailback in the On3 Industry Ranking, but has played with a bevy of elite athletes and winners throughout his four years at Chaminade-Madonna — something that he expects to help carry over at the next level with North Carolina.

He isn’t the only one, either. UNC’s top-30 recruiting class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings is chock-full of winners. He and fellow Tar Heels signee Zion Ferguson are both in Orlando and are ready to show just that as they compete in the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 3.

“This is a big class for UNC right here. We’ve got a lot of great players and a lot of people that come from winning high school teams, so I feel like we can bring that winning culture to UNC,” Gause told reporters on Friday.

Gause committed to North Carolina at the beginning of March and has watched the class grow over the course of the year. Now, 27 recruits have signed and are ready to make an impact for the Tar Heels.

“A lot of good guys, A lot of explosive players on the offense and a few more guys on the defense that we’re bringing in to contribute,” Gause said.

Gause also held offers from the likes of Florida State, Notre Dame and Miami, but saw the fit under Mack Brown, Larry Porter and the UNC staff. Gause is now poised to make an immediate impact upon his arrival to Chapel Hill.

“They were very good, they told me how they were going to develop me, how they were going to use me…that was the best fit,” he said.
