Five-Star Plus+ SG Ian Jackson signs with North Carolina
Bronx (N.Y.) Our Savior Lutheran Five-Star Plus+ shooting guard Ian Jackson has signed with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Jackson committed to UNC on Jan. 16, choosing the Tar Heels over the likes of Kentucky, Oregon, LSU, and Arkansas. Despite rumors of St. John’s making a late push in his recruitment, the 6-foot-5, 180-pounder has put pen to paper to head to Chapel Hill next season.
He is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 4 shooting guard in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in New York.
“Ian Jackson is a competitive guard who plays tough on both ends of the floor. The five-star is capable of creating his own shot off the bounce. He is aggressive in getting downhill in the half-court and is able to take a bump in the paint,” On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote of Jackson.

“Jackson’s confidence in his jump shot has also developed recently. Much of his scoring comes off the bounce, either getting in rhythm or with the pull-up. He is also capable of getting his team into sets.”
He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $503K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Ian Jackson Scouting Summary
“Ian Jackson is a high-level athlete. He has long arms, broad shoulders, and explosive athleticism in the paint. Jackson has confidence with the ball in his hands; he is decisive in getting downhill to the rim. He can rise up and finish above the rim and pull up in the mid-range with an assortment of floaters and pull-ups. Jackson is a capable shooter from three, but he still needs polish with this part of his game, especially when shooting off the bounce or off movement. His shot selection can get a little wild at times. He is comfortable on the ball but would like to see him see the floor better. Jackson is an alpha. He is a competitive defender, both on the ball and off. He wants to guard the other team’s best perimeter threat, and he has great tools with his size and athleticism. He has natural athletic tools and the utmost confidence. Jackson is very charismatic.”
