Former Texas A&M TE Jake Johnson transferring to North Carolina
Former Texas A&M tight end Jake Johnson has found his next home, as he’s joining the North Carolina Tar Heels via the NCAA Transfer Portal, per Hayes Fawcett.
Johnson played in 17 games across two seasons with the Aggies, totaling 25 catches for 237 yards and four touchdowns.
The Tar Heels make a ton of sense for Johnson. His brother — former Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson — took his talents to North Carolina earlier in the offseason. Now, the former Aggies duo can be reunited in Chapel Hill.
As a recruit, he was the No. 74 overall prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranked as the nation’s No. 1 tight end and the No. 7 recruit in Georgia.
The Johnson brothers were a story to behold for the Aggies, making their mark on Texas A&M. Now, they’ll be hoping to do the same as they venture into the ACC with the North Carolina Tar Heels.
