North Carolina expected to hire Freddie Kitchens as new tight ends coach
The North Carolina Tar Heels are expected to hire Freddie Kitchens as the new tight ends coach, according to On3’s Matt Zenitz.
Kitchens last served as a senior football analyst with South Carolina in 2022 after a 16-year run in the NFL. He is the former head coach of the Cleveland Browns (2019) but went 6-10 and was fired after just one season.
Kitchens began his coaching career in 1999 as Glenville State after his playing career at Alabama. He played quarterback for the Crimson Tide and won the Citrus Bowl and Outback Bowl in 1995 and ‘97.
Kitchens worked his way up to LSU in 2000 and held a variety of positions at North Texas and Mississippi State before going to the Dallas Cowboys in 2006.
