North Carolina has found some of their missing groove over the last month. Since losing four straight, the Tar Heels have bounced back with nine wins over their last 11 games. Even so, Hubert Davis still says UNC needs to keep the pressure on by continuing its own development.

Davis highlighted that as his biggest hope for his team moving forward during his press conference on Monday. Although they’ve made big strides already, he still wants to see his players improve upon the growth they’ve shown already as well as their consistency.

“I just want us to continue to improve. We talked about some areas on both ends of the floor that we just needed to get better at. And not only get better at but get consistent at,” said Davis. “That’s what I want to do, especially on the defensive end.”

Besides a pair of losses to two of the ACC’s better teams in Pittsburgh and Virginia, North Carolina has looked like a different team than it did in the first third of its season. After starting five and four, they now stand at 14-6 overall with an average margin of victory that’s over double-digits.

Still, there’s plenty of work still to be done in Chapel Hill according to Davis. In his mind, he says the next phase of their development will be focused on sticking to their game plan over the final 11 games of their regular season.

“Just continuing (our) improvement and consistency. That’s the biggest thing on us,” said Davis. “I’ve said before that the biggest thing we’ve done this year that we have to get better at is staying on script. Just doing the things that we’ve practiced in practice, talked about in practice, drilled in practice. (Just) not going off script. And I feel like we’re starting to get better at that. But we still have to continue to improve and also be consistent in that area.”

After falling from grace to open the season, North Carolina has re-found some of their footing as of late. Now, they have to stay on the new path they’ve found by picking up a fourth straight win at Syracuse on Tuesday night.
