Leaked internal UNC emails from Bill Belichick girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, show role, concerns

Jordon Hudson, the 24-year-old girlfriend of North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick, has become a visible figure around the Tar Heels football program ever since the 72-year-old former NFL coach was hired in mid-December 2024. Four months later, Hudson’s apparent role within UNC has become clearer after The Athletic recently FOIA’d several of her internal emails.
Based on emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by The Athletic‘s Matt Baker, Hudson’s email signature identifies her as the chief operating officer (COO) of Belichick Productions, though Baker found no applicable business registered with that name. Hudson is not currently listed in any official capacity on North Carolina’s athletic department online staff directory according to the team’s website.
Earlier this year, Belichick requested UNC athletic department staff copy Hudson in all emails involving him. But her having a position responsible for handling of how Belichick is being portrayed publicly could shed light on her alleged role in the proposed HBO’s Hard Knocks series involving Belichick and the UNC football program that fell apart less than a week after it was rumored to be in motion.
The internal emails also revealed some of Hudson’s more pressing concerns, mostly involving how Belichick is being perceived by the outside world, and that the UNC administration is doing everything it can to shield him from criticism, especially on team-controlled social media accounts.
“Is there anyone monitoring the UNC Football page for slanderous commentary and subsequently deleting it/blocking users that are harassing BB in the comments?” Hudson reportedly asked Feb. 13, according to emails obtained by The Athletic.
In a follow-up email, Belichick himself reportedly responded: “I cannot believe that UNC would support my being called a ‘predator.’”

Bill Belichick’s girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, defends against nepotism claims involving DC Steve Belichick
Hudson also reportedly took it upon herself to request that the program’s social media team shows greater sensitivity to defending against the inherent nepotisim involved in Belichick’s decision to hire his son, Steve, on as North Carolina’s defensive coordinator.
“Though Steve Belichick is in fact Bill’s son, he should be depicted and represented as his own established, credible entity as opposed to an extension of Bill,” Hudson reportedly wrote in a Dec. 22 email, per The Athletic. “It can be easily misinterpreted that Steve is simply benefitting from nepotism but that is not the case. Steve was fortunate to have learned defensive football strategy from the ‘greatest defensive mind’ of all-time. He has earned his position due to his performance and output.
“It is really worth emphasizing the point that Steve has the experience of being a COLLEGE defensive coordinator and will bring a plethora of knowledge to the coaching staff. I believe being strategic about the depiction of the Steve (sic) will prevent controversy and show upmost (sic) respect towards Steve’s career, validate Bill’s decision as a HC to hire Steve.”
Of course, nepotism and even cronyism are simply an accepted reality in sports, with coaches regularly hiring close connections such as longtime friends and relatives that are also in the business to roles within their organization. In fact, Hudson’s role with UNC could easily be construed in a similar light. And rarely is it looked down upon from others within the industry. It’s no different than CEOs hiring their children for significant roles within their company.
