The rivalry between North Carolina and Duke is one of the most storied across all of sports. When you consider the emotions and stakes during Saturday’s matchup, the rivalry was even bigger. After UNC pulled off a 94-81 upset over Duke, spoiling Blue Devils head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s final regular season game and final game inside Cameron Indoor Stadium, Tar Heels fans stormed Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, as they are accustomed to doing after big games.

Saturday’s game was obviously a big one. UNC’s upset over Duke might have been enough to solidify the Tar Heels’ spot in the NCAA Tournament. Regardless, fans took part in one of the best celebrations there is.

The upset gave UNC a 23-8 overall record and a 15-5 mark against ACC opponents to end the regular season, while Duke finished 26-5 overall and 16-4 in the ACC.

The win was obviously an emotional one all around, and that was apparent inside UNC’s locker room following the final buzzer. UNC head coach Hubert Davis shared an emotional embrace with multiple players after the win, which ended the first regular season for Davis as the Tar Heels head coach.

UNC’s starting five carried the bulk of the load on Saturday, with four of the five Tar Heels starters playing at least 38 minutes. The four players that came off of the bench played a combined 14 minutes, totaling two bench points. But four of UNC’s five starters finished the game with at least 20 points, paving the way to the 94-81 upset win against Duke.
