Mac Horvath blasts clutch three-run homer to extend UNC's lead over Wright State
Mac Horvath came through in a gigantic way for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Tar Heels infielder saw his team struggling to bring runners home, and decided to change things with two men on. Horvath connected for a three-run jack that extended North Carolina’s lead from 1-0 to 4-0 late over Wright State.
Check it out below, as Horvath gets a pitch to hit with two strikes and two outs. Just a clutch piece of hitting.
As the North Carolina Baseball Twitter account wrote, that ball never stood a chance against Horvath’s swing.
While the Tar Heels’ pitching has been stout, their hitting has left much to be desired, aside from Mac Horvath’s bomb. Nevertheless, they’ll be elated in the dugout and at home to watch that big fly go over the fence, as UNC is one step closer to victory.

Speaking with the ESPN broadcast during the Tar Heels’ showdown against Wright State, Forbes explained what his thought process has been regarding North Carolina being unable to score baserunners over the last 24 hours, and why he believes they’ll get things going.
“Forget it quickly. Keep getting them on base, like we have today,” explained Forbes. “Obviously the same thing has happened today, but I’m a firm believer that if you keep getting them out there, somebody is going to bust one.”
Continuing, Forbes’ starting pitcher for Saturday’s game, Max Carlson, has been pretty dang good at the time of this writing, allowing no hits through three innings pitched. However, the umpire had an issue with Carlson’s pitching motion, which the Tar Heels rectified quickly, as the team looks to stay hot.
“No doubt about it. He’s a veteran, big-game type guy,” added Forbes. “The conversation was just about the delivery. It’s got to be continuous. So we fixed that real quick, and we’re ready to go.”
