Mack Brown’s dance moves were a hot topic of conversation after the team’s 63-61 victory against Appalachian State in Week 1, and now the North Carolina coach hopes to use it to his advantage.

Brown’s players loved seeing their coach jump around so much that he decided to make a promise to the team. For every Tar Heels win, Brown will bust out the moves once again.

“Here we go and have that 63-61 fiasco at Appalachian State and I’m in there and I’m exhausted,” Brown said Wednesday in an appearance on SportsCenter. “They said, ‘OK, dance!’ I’m like, ‘Really?’ …I have told the team I will dance every time they win a game. Last year I said conference championship, but we didn’t win enough. So I’m back to anything. Whatever it takes to win, I’m open.”

The Tar Heels defeated Georgia State the Appalachian State game, and are currently 3-0 on the season. However, they face their biggest challenge yet this year on Saturday when they play Notre Dame at 3:30 p.m. ET in Chapel Hill.

Brown knows how much of a challenge it will be, but he hopes to be dancing when it’s over.

“Any time you’re playing Notre Dame, you’ve got a national brand,” he said. “Those guys are as good as anyone in the country. Notre Dame and Clemson have dominated the ACC over the last few years. I think, in fact, Notre Dame’s won 19 in a row in regular season ACC games. We’ve been in fourth-quarter games with them the last two years, but their toughness, confidence and they’ve come out and won both of those games. So this is a great test for us. It’s a fun challenge to see if we’re ready to take another step.”

Mack Brown dances in locker room following Appalachian State win

The North Carolina Tar Heels barely survived on Saturday afternoon against the Appalachian State Mountaineers in a classic, 63-61. It looks like a basketball score, but do not let your eyes deceive you. Both offenses lit up the scoreboard in historic fashion on Saturday afternoon in Boone, North Carolina. UNC head coach Mack Brown was relieved his team could come away with the heart-stopping victory and he decided to dance in the locker room following the win.

Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye threw for 372 passing yards and had 74 rushing yards to go along with five touchdowns. His skill set combined with the ‘Heels heavy artillery at receiver and running back, is almost impossible to defend. The Tar Heels’ offense will likely be bailing out their defense for much of the season, so they’ll need all the points their offense can give them.

The two teams combined for 62 points and 504 yards in the fourth quarter. That’s one point shy of the most points ever scored in the fourth quarter of an FBS game (Navy vs. North Texas in 2007).
